The generic ED pills really do work as advertised and have allowed me to save quite a lot of money. I share a flat with four other people and I didn't want them to know that I had ordered Viagra. My doctor recommended the usual prescription pills for my condition but he failed to mention how expensive these were. What is it used for?
MONTELUKAST SODIUM is used for prevention and treatment of asthma symptoms. It can also be used for the allergy treatment. It shouldn’t be used for the acute asthma attack treatment though.
What should I discuss with my physician prior to taking this medicine?
Please do tell your physician if you have any of the following conditions:
- liver disease
- phenylketonuria
- an unusual or allergic reaction to montelukast, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- breast-feeding
How is this medicine should be taken?
This medicine should be taken orally. This medicine should be taken at the same time every day, either with or without food. You should never chew the tablets. You should never stop taking your medicine unless your doctor specifically advises you to.
Contact your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine by children. Special care might be necessary. While this drug may be prescribed for children as young as 15 years old for certain conditions, the necessary precautions should be applied.
Overdosage: If you suspect an overdosage, get in touch with the nearest poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTE: This medicine is only intended for your use. You should never share it with the others.
What to do if I missed a dose?
If you missed a dose, it should be taken as soon as possible. If the time has almost come for the next dose, only that one should be taken. You should never take double or extra doses; a single doze is sufficient for the purposes.
What are the possible interactions with the other medicine/food/etc?
- carbamazepine
- paclitaxel
- phenobarbital
- phenytoin
- repaglinide
- rifabutin
- rifampin
- rosiglitazone
This list is not all-inclusive. Provide your health care provider with a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you are using. Also tell them whether you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some of those items may also interact with your medicine.
Is there anything I should pay attention to while taking it?
Pay regular visits to your doctor or health care professional to undergo checks on your progress. Tell your doctor or health care professional if your allergy or asthma symptoms do not show signs of improvement. You should go on taking your medicine even when you do not have the common symptoms. It is advisory do not stop any of your medicine(s) unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so.
If you have asthma, consult your doctor to clarify what to do in case of an acute asthma attack. You should always have your inhaled rescue medicine to be ready against asthma attacks.
Does this medicine have any possible side effects?
The following side effects should be reported to your doctor or health care professional as soon as they are noted:
- allergic reactions like skin rash or hives, or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
- issues with breathing
- dark urine
- fever or infection
- flu-like symptoms
- painful lumps under the skin
- pain, tingling, numbness in the hands or feet
- sinus pain or swelling
- suicidal thoughts or other mood changes
- unusual bleeding or bruising
- yellowing of the eyes or skin
The side effects listed below usually do not necessarily require any medical attention (please do report them to your physician if they are recurrent or bothersome):
- cough
- dizziness
- drowsiness
- headache
- stomach upset
- stuffy nose
- trouble sleeping
Other side effects are also possible, for the above list is not all inclusive.
Where should I keep my medicine?
Keep this medicine out of the children’s reach.
Store it at the room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). You should do your best to protect this medicine from the light and moisture. Always keep this medicine in the original bottle. Dispose of any unused medicine after the expiry date is reached.
